| Dr. Jennifer A. Baron, a board-certified dermatologist with additional fellowship training in both Mohs micrographic surgery and pathology, recently joined the staff at Peninsula Dermatology & Laser Clinic in Gig Harbor. Her specialties include Mohs micrographic surgery and cutaneous reconstruction for skin cancer, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, and rare cutaneous tumors; excisional surgery; cosmetic surgery including dermabrasion, laser resurfacing, rhinophyma correction, acne scar surgery, scar revision, soft tissue augmentation; and laser surgery for removal of telangiectasia and vascular birth marks, age spots and scars. She is also trained in eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), Botox, and liposuction.
Baron received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at Pomona College in Claremont, Calif. and her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Penn., where she also completed a one-year fellowship in pathology. She enjoyed her residency training in dermatology at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, and continued with advanced fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C.
Dr. Baron was recently a faculty member of the Department of Dermatology at UBC and regularly taught residents in both dermatology and plastic surgery and gave bimonthly lectures. She has also been a speaker for the Dermatology Nurses Association, the American Academy of Dermatology, medical students and other residents at Oregon Health Sciences University. In addition, she has authored several articles in peer-reviewed dermatology journals.
She is also a fellow of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, the American Academy of Dermatology, the Womens Dermatologic Society, and the Washington and Seattle Dermatologic Societies.
