Bremerton Symphony extends popular music director’s contract
Stoyanovich
The Bremerton Symphony Association (BSA) has announced that it has renewed the contract of music and artistic director Elizabeth Stoyanovich for another two years, with a two-year extension. Stoyanovich is currently completing her fifth year with the BSA. Under her tenure, the Association has experienced unprecedented artistic growth.

Board President Holly James commented, “We are pleased and happy to continue our journey with Elizabeth as the face of our Symphony, the ‘Best Sound in the West Sound.’ Her artistic leadership has elevated our community’s musical experience and has positioned us for future greatness. We thank our community supporters and look forward to growing our audience at our upcoming concerts.”

Along with the contract extension, the BSA announced a new program called “Conductor’s Initiative,” where the Association, in tandem with Stoyanovich, will obtain funds to support the conductor on the podium one season in advance of the expenditures. To date the BSA has already received commitments from its primary sponsor, Kitsap Bank, and the Bremerton Symphony Endowment Fund.

Stoyanovich commented, “In this day and age, the conductor is expected to wear many hats, from directing musicians, guiding volunteers, and assisting the staff, to fundraising. I feel comfortable in this role because I know the value of our organization and freely share my enthusiasm with our community in support of the orchestra. Helping the BSA find new monies to finance the ‘Conductor’s Initiative’ is a direct way we all can insure the stability of our organization’s present and future activities.”

Orchestra Representative to the BSA Board and long time musician, Sandy Ulsh, commented on the Maestra’s tenure, “I’m delighted we will have the stability of Elizabeth’s continued leadership on the podium. She is a positive presence in the community on behalf of the BSA. She is helping us as musicians be all that we can be and we’re looking forward to more musicians and audience members joining us.”

The new contract will become effective June 21, 2008 with the extension going to June 30, 2012. For more information contact the Bremerton Symphony Association at (360) 373-1722 or on the web at www.bremertonsymphony.org.
