Washington CASH graduates
12 new local entrepreneurs
Stuart Walton director of the Washington CASH micro enterprise program in Kitsap County has announced the graduation of 12 local entrepreneurs. The graduates completed an intensive 10 week business development training program and prepared feasibility studies for their new businesses.

The graduates from Bremerton were: Amy Shelman, Robert Oroboc, Amy Baril, Vern Bower, Kathy Akens, Kate Vincent, Robert Starzman, Denise Owen and Tamra Knauss.

From Port Orchard, Raymond Beigle and Mary Colborn completed the course and Theresa Valdez of Silverdale also graduated.

The graduates of the business development training are now eligible to participate in CASH success groups where they may apply for a micro loan to finance their business and receive on-going mentoring and business support, Walton said.

Washington CASH has provided business training to more than 295 local Kitsap residents in the past seven years. More than 189 new businesses have been opened and 50 micro loans totaling over $80,000 have been repaid.

Washington Community Alliance for Self Help (CASH) is dedicated to working with entrepreneurs who are ready to start their own business and succeed using micro-credit lending, peer support and business training.

Orientation for the winter classes will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. at Kitsap Community Resources Center, 1201 Park Avenue in Bremerton and Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. at West Park Community Center, 76 Russel Road in Bremerton.

First class begins on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. and continue for 10 weeks at the KCR Building.
