| The City of Port Orchard is extending its deadline accepting applications for appointment to the new Port Orchard Design Review Board (DRB). The City recently adopted design regulations for the downtown core. The city is looking for creative and innovative citizens who want to be involved in the downtowns redevelopment.
This first Design Review Board will leave a legacy with lasting impacts in the health and vitality of the downtown core. First members will not only have an impact on the immediate visual impressions, but will have input on what parts of the new development regulations work and those that dont.
Specifically, the Board consists of seven members who will have staggered terms of four years. Four of the members must live in the City limits and have a general interest in architecture, building or design. Three of the members must have a professional background in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design/planning, structural engineering, graphic, industrial and interior design, builder or carpenter or similar disciplines. The professional members may be from outside the city limits but must be within the Urban Growth Area for the City of Port Orchard (see map on website). All members of the Board will serve without compensation.
To apply, candidates must submit a letter of interest and answers to a supplemental questionnaire available from the City Clerks office, 360-876-4407 or online at www.cityofportorchard.us. Application deadline is extended through December 7, 2007, at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall, attn: City Clerk, 216 Prospect Street, Port Orchard, WA 98366.
