Public service career fair set for Oct. 29
Citing an “unprecedented shortage of workers,” Governor Christine Gregoire has issued a proclamation in support of the first-ever Washington State Public Service Career Fair.

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels and Jon Kvistad, chair, Seattle Federal Executive Board have also issued Public Service Career Day. proclamations to cknowledge the work of public sector employees and encourage citizens to consider employment opportunities with federal, state and local government agencies.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29 at Seattle Center.

More than 50 agencies have registered to have representatives at the fair to discuss employment opportunities with job seekers. The event also includes a series of presentations describing the application process for federal and state positions, tips on interviewing and a panel discussion on the significance of public service will be scheduled as part of the Career Fair.

The Evergreen Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) is hosting the free Career Fair in collaboration with Puget Sound area local, county, state and federal government agencies.
