Stacey Tucker: Local entrepreneur
giving back to the community
By Shauna Kroeger
Stacey Tucker is an entrepreneur who has her sights set all over the board. Tucker, who purchased the venerable Chico Towing from her father, also has her foot in the market of window tinting, consulting, and auto sales.

Tucker wasn’t always the entrepreneur she is today. Fresh out of college, she ventured into the mental health field for a period, until she found the business world beckoning.

“I enjoyed the mental health field, but wanted to make a difference in the entrepreneur world,” she said.

Chico Towing was originally a service station. Established in 1945 by her grandfather, the business reduced its offerings and turned into a strictly towing business in the 70s when her father took over. She bought the company outright from her father, Pat Tucker, in 1994.

Through Chico Towing, she runs Olympic Auto Sales, a wholesale auto dealership. They also have monthly auctions to sell the abandoned cars they acquire.

Tucker also dabbles in a commercial and residential window tinting business called Sun Select Window Tinting. She and her brother run the company together. She also manages a consulting company named Essential Solutions to Business, and plans to open an RV parking and concierge service lot in the near future.

In the midst of all her companies, the most rewarding part of Tucker’s work is the community service activities she’s involved with, and the people she interacts with daily and in her volunteer work.

Tucker makes it a point to volunteer and to be involved in the community. She has served on many boards, including the Kitsap County Youth Board and the Harrison Medical Foundation Board. She was also a key mover and shaker in the Checkered Flag Club, the business group that was promoting the establishment of a NASCAR track in Kitsap County.

“It’s important to me to be invested in my community. I’ve tried to give back to the community that I’m a part of. I get a lot of personal benefits myself that way.”

Tucker is very involved in associations as well, believing that association work can help make an impact on the community and business world. She has served almost every role in the State Towing Association.

“I think it’s really important to stand up and contribute to the process,” she said. “There’s a negative stereotype about towing. If we’re going to change it, we have to change it from within.”

She wants to stress the professionalism of Chico Towing. All of their drivers are trained and qualified, and the business itself is run professionally.

“We have to work very hard to educate the public that we have professionals.”

She is also the state director of the National Towing Association.

On the flip side of her business world, Tucker is a family woman. She is the mother of three young children, the oldest just recently turning nine. She works alongside her husband primarily in Chico Towing, and occasionally in Essential Solutions.
