| Kitsap County businesses are invited to participate in the regional Waste Free Holidays program in an effort to help residents reduce holiday waste. “Give experiences instead of stuff,” is the theme of the campaign, which encourages residents to rethink shopping habits. Participating business offer discounts of 15 percent or more on tickets of gift certificates for music, plays, sporting events, museums, restaurant meals, spa treatments, lodging, tanning, or other “gift” services purchased from Nov. 16 to Dec. 31.
The program is a joint effort of Kitsap County Public Works Solid Waste Division and other area local governments to provide incentives for shoppers to “think outside the box.” Participating companies will be recognized on the regional Waste Free Holidays website as well as local print ads and other materials. There is no cost to join the Waste Free Holidays program other than the discount offered.
