Finn announces bid for 35th District Seat
Fred Finn, a Democrat who lives in rural Thurston County, announces his candidacy for position of State Representative from the 35th Legislative District. The 35th District includes all of Mason and parts of Kitsap, Grays Harbor and Thurston Counties. Longtime incumbent Bill Eickmeyer (D-Belfair) recently announced he would not seek re-election to the seat.

Finn noted: “In a fiscally responsible manner we need to:

  • Improve the quality and funding of our schools;
  • Improve the quality of our environment, particularly the Hood Canal;
  • Promote the creation of family wage jobs while ensuring that the costs of growth are fairly apportioned.
  • Provide a mechanism for all citizens, in this the richest nation on earth, to obtain health care;”

“As a member of the Legislature, I hope to have a significant part in addressing these issues and bringing about results.”

Finn, 61, is a Thurston/Mason County area businessman, involved in commercial real estate including the renewal of downtown Shelton. A past Griffin School Board member and founding director of the Washington Business Bank, he currently is a member of the Mason County Hospital Foundation Board as well as numerous business and civic organizations in Thurston and Mason counties.
