| Olympic Printer Resources, Inc. of Kingston and EcycleNW of Sequim teamed up with Poulsbo Central Market, The North Kitsap Herald, American Marine Bank and Prowse & Company to sponsor a Community Electronic Waste Recycling Day recently at the Central Market parking lot in Poulsbo. 319 people brought almost 50,000 pounds of electronic waste including 269 computer monitors, 188 old televisions, and 184 CPUs to be recycled. From the fees collected at the event, $1,050 was donated to the Poulsbo Marine Science Center which will be reopening soon.
Hugh Nelson of Prowse & Company stated. I was amazed at the turn out from the community we worked for six straight hours sorting and packaging for shipment the items collected.
Collected items will be disassembled into their component parts by EcycleNW or resold to certified processors who adhere to U.S. export control regulations regarding the safe handling of Electronic Waste.

A second event has been set for Saturday, Sept. 15. This time, Olympic Printer Resources, Inc. and EcycleNW have teamed up with Central Kitsap High School, Sound Publishing, American Marine Bank and United Rentals. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Central Kitsap High School at 3700 Anderson Hill Road in Silverdale. A portion of the collection fees from the event will be donated to the CKHS Leadership Class that coordinate and raise funds to support school activities and clubs.
Items accepted will be: televisions, monitors, printers, computers, copiers, stereo components, VCR/DVD players, telephones, household batteries and cell phones. Collection fees range from $9 for phones up to $44 dollars for large console televisions. Very large copiers, power supplies and batteries will be charged by the pound.
Collected items will be disassembled and recycled into their component parts and resold to certified processors who adhere to U.S. export control regulations regarding the safe handling of Electronic Waste. About 92 percent of the material brought in will be reclaimed and kept out of our local landfills.
