Mason County tourism website
officially launched
A new tourism website is open for business at www.explorehoodcanal.com. Funded by lodging tax revenue, the website showcases the Hood Canal and South Puget Sound Region. The site’s navigation and interactive menu is complemented by its editorial content, photography, mapping capabilities and panoramic views of the area’s beauty. Visitors will find lodging and dining information, discover things to see and do, and view an event calendar.  Visitors will also have the ability to post and read on topics in the blog and much more. The website takes advantage of web 2.0 technology including social networking, Google maps, and blogging.

In addition to the website, 125,000 copies of a new full-color tourism brochure are now being distributed on the Washington State Ferries and throughout western Washington. The brochure invites visitors to come and explore Hood Canal, South Puget Sound and the Olympics and features photos, editorial, points of interest and a county-wide map.

The website and the brochure are the first steps in a larger tourism marketing strategy with the main goal of drawing visitors and guests to visit, stay and play in Mason County. All tourism efforts are funded through a partnership of the Mason County Lodging Tax Committee, City of Shelton Lodging Tax and the Squaxin Island Tribe.
