Eickmeyer to serve only through 2008
State Representative William ‘Ike’ Eickmeyer will serve out the full two-year term to which he was elected in 2006, but has decided not to run for re-election as State Representative for the 35th District in 2008.

“It is both a privilege and an honor to represent such a diverse and interesting district, and I wish to thank the citizens who continue to place their trust in me to represent them in Olympia.” said Eickmeyer in his statement.

“Like so many of my gender, I have ignored important health issues, and at age 68, I have an obligation to restore my health and return to being a fulltime father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

“I will continue to be an active supporter in the efforts to restore that majestic fjord known as the Hood Canal as I also endeavor to visit those areas of this great nation that I have never seen.

“It is with some sadness but no regrets that I will leave public office the end of next year, as I will miss all those personalities I’ve encountered - from pleasant to extreme grouchiness - and all the challenges of governing this great state.”.
