| After four years of work with dedicated volunteers from Keyport area community groups and individuals, the Kitsap County Department of Community Development (DCD) has released the draft Keyport Community Plan. A public hearing on the plan will be held on Aug 14, 6:30 p.m., at the Kitsap County Administration Building, 619 Division Street in Port Orchard.
If approved by the County Commissioners, the plan will be incorporated into the Kitsap County Comprehensive Plan, designating Keyport as a rural village with historical boundaries while preventing urban-type sprawl.
The plan proposes designation as a Limited Area of More Intense Rural Development (LAMIRD) with associated infill residential, commercial, retail, and recreational uses as specified under the Washington State Growth Management Act. The Keyport Community Plan includes elements on land use, housing, transportation, capital facilities and utilities.
Copies of the plan or more information can be found at this link or by contacting Senior Planner James Weaver at (360) 337-4543 or jweaver@co.kitsap.wa.us. |
