Goodwill opens new store in Port Orchard
Goodwill Industries opened its 15th Puget Sound area store, and second in Kitsap, in Port Orchard on June 28. The store is located at Towne Center (formerly South Kitsap Mall), 1700 SE Mile Hill Drive, in the space most recently occupied by Big Lots.

The store is the third of its kind in Port Orchard, joining the South Kitsap Helpline store and St. Vincent DePaul.

Goodwill opened the store with a grand opening celebration that kicked off a weekend-long event featuring prizes, great shopping and family fun. The first 250 customers received a free giveaway, and throughout the weekend, shoppers had an opportunity to enter a raffle for prizes, which included a digital camera, an MP3 player and a DVD player.

Proceeds from sales go to support job training and education programs that help hundreds of people gain self-sufficiency through work.

The store boasts thousands of quality, reusable clothes, toys, books, housewares, furniture, electronics and more, at Goodwill’s traditionally low prices. The 22,000 square-foot store has been remodeled to be bright, colorful and inviting, with the goal of creating a clean, pleasant shopping environment, with ample free parking in the store’s lot.

Donations are always welcome, and individuals who bring a bag of quality, reusable goods to the Port Orchard donation center will receive a coupon good for their next Goodwill shopping visit.

Goodwill is a private, nonprofit organization that has served the North Puget Sound since 1923. The organization provides free job training and education programs and services that help low-income individuals gain the skills they need to secure employment so they may achieve economic self-sufficiency for themselves and their families.
