| According to Jessica Christman, owner of Bremerton-based Environmental Recovery Systems, her firm has become the only company on the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas certified to remove bio-hazards from commercial and residential property. The company can provide emergency disposal of blood in homes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week anywhere in Kitsap and County. The company cleans and disposes of pathogens from crime and accident scenes, including vehicles.
Environmental Recovery Services also provides distressed property clean up. Distressed property (also known as garbage houses) poses a great threat to human health and the environment due to animal waste, Christman said. Rodent droppings carry a deadly virus called the Hanta Virus recognized to cause a newly described disease called Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome. It is said 50 percent of the people who contact the disease die from it. Proper clean up and disposal is necessary to prevent further contamination, Christman stated.
She is certified by Argus Pacific of Seattle in Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response and also in AIDS, HIV and Blood Borne Pathogens. The company is also approved by the Kitsap County Health Department.
Christman attended Olympic College and graduated from the Washington CASH micro-credit program in Kitsap County. She and a member of her CASH success group, Bliss. she can be reached at (360) 674-6725 or environmentalrecoveryservices@earthlink.net. |
