More employers providing AEDs
in the workplace
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are small units that can restart a normal heart beat when someone has a heart attack. Many employers are now providing them in the workplace.

By providing AEDs and training personnel in their correct usage, employers may provide effective emergency care until professional medical care is available. For every minute someone is in ventricular fibrillation during a heart attack, there is a 10 percent drop in the survival rate.

Prompt access to an AED has been proven to save lives. They have become easier to operate and maintain, and are inexpensive.

Washington Employers Association now has AEDs in its offices and provides AED training to members’ employees. Members may receive a discount when purchasing equipment from Physio Controls / Medtronic.
