Workman are putting the finishing touches on the new MultiCare Gig Harbor Medical Park scheduled to open next month |
The MultiCare Gig Harbor Medical Park will open doors on June 11, and will include comprehensive services ranging from urgent care and imaging to oncology and day surgery. The three-level building will house MultiCare services currently in other Gig Harbor locations, as well as bring expanded services.
In mid-April, interior work was still in full swing, with some parts of the building nearly completed and others undergoing work at various stages. During a tour of the facility, MultiCare spokesman Todd Kelley and Gig Harbor Medical Park Administrator Charlene Godec shared some of the features and amenities of their new facility, which has a Northwest lodge theme with an upscale feel to its décor. The plan includes a fireplace in the lobby, original artwork by local artists, a desk with a concierge, a bistro, and a boutique carrying items like wigs.
This is a new concept (for MultiCare) with the feel of an upscale, lodge-type facility where people can be fully comfortable, Godec said. Not only is it comfortable for our patients and their families but it also provides a positive, healthy environment for staff.
The main level of the building includes a womens spa, a YMCA day care, a small gym with circuit training, and Urgent Care that will include a Mary Bridge Child Express for minor childrens injuries and illnesses. The oncology clinic, a sleep center and a primary and specialty care clinic will be located on the top level. About 80 employees will staff the medical park initially, and overtime that number could expand to 140.
The YMCA day care will serve patients by allowing them to bring in their children on a drop-in basis while they have appointments within the building. For example, when a patient calls in to the womens health center to set up a check-up, the scheduling desk can check for daycare openings at the same time so the mom can take care of both in one call. The Y also is providing the gym, focused on women, and will hold exercise classes. The collaboration of the YMCA and MultiCare started a few years ago, and as part of the partnership, the new Y facility in Gig Harbor North will also include a MultiCare health center focused on prevention and well-being.
The Healthy Reflections Medical Spa at the medical park has a classy atmosphere with details such as cherry hardwood cabinets, cherry veneer lockers, another fireplace, and antique bronze-style fixtures. In addition to the usual day spa services like manicures and facials, it will offer noninvasive procedures such as BOTOX treatments.
We are looking at integrating the spa-related modalities like massages with the traditional treatments, Godec said. And, she added, mens nights will be planned so the guys can take advantage of the spa as well. The services offered at the clinics will include ultrasound, bone density scans, MRIs and CT scans; the ambulatory surgery center will focus on orthopedics, urology and gynecology surgeries as well as neurological procedures. The oncology clinic will have private or semi-private treatment rooms.
Kelley said the medical park was designed to provide services the community requested, and is a reflection of the local demographics, with the largest growing segment being over age 60.
A lot of the care is now done in an outpatient setting, Godec said. Its a different approach (to health care).
The Gig Harbor Medical Park will have a grand opening on June 10 that will include tours, family activities and entertainment, and will be open for business the following week. |
