| In support of its mission and its membership with one percent For the Planet, Grounds for Change recently made a $5,000 donation to the Suquamish Environmental Education (SEE) Boosters at Suquamish Elementary. As a member of one percent for the Planet, Grounds for Change commits at least one percent of its total sales to environmental organizations each year. In addition to SEE Boosters, Grounds for Change is donating to the Northwest Shade Coffee Campaign and Save Our Wild Salmon, both Washington-based organizations.
The Suquamish Environmental Education (SEE) Boosters are a group of educators, parents and supporting local businesses who believe that students need experiential learning of the environment to become good citizens. The SEE Boosters raise money each year to supplement the funding of important programs like the resident learning at Islandwood, support of the Basket Marsh and Pond Kids, etc. Their goal is to make nature an integral part of students daily education.
One percent For the Planet is an alliance of businesses committed to leveraging resources to create a healthier planet. Members recognize their responsibility to and dependence on a healthy environment and donate at least one percent of their annual sales to environmental organizations worldwide. In 2006, the organization included almost 500 business members with an annual giving potential of $6 million.
