Valley Nursery asks “Where’s Valnur?”
Valnur, the Valley Nursery troll, is taking an extended vacation from the nursery until the impending highway construction is finished. He is doing some traveling, and has been kind enough to send pictures of some of his stops along the way. Being a very shy and fun loving troll, he has chosen to let us guess where he has been instead of telling us.

He has happily stood in front of Valley Nursery for 17 years. His creator started with a chunk of old-growth cedar, and while the majority of the carving was accomplished with a chain saw, the face was carefully crafted with precision tools. Originally he was accompanied by a wheelbarrow and oversized shovel, but wind, rain and vandals have taken their toll. Only Valnur has stood strong. Over the years he has become a Bond Road icon. Hundreds of people have stopped and posed for photos with the friendly troll and when he left people noticed. Since then they have e-mailed, called and stopped by to share their stories and ask “Where’s Valnur.”

Because so many people have a connection with him Valley Nursery is inviting you to share in the fun. He really enjoyed his friends stopping by when he returned for the holidays, but now he’s gone again. Watch for monthly clues of where he has traveled and then guess where Valnur is and be eligible for a chance to win a prize.

The contest began in October of 2006. Every month, a picture of Valnur’s latest vacation spot is posted in the nursery’s newsletter, on its website and at the nursery.

Fill out a “Where’s Valnur” Contest Entry form (available at the nursery) with your guess as to where that spot is, and return to the entry box. Only one entry per person per day is acceptable. At the end of the month, a name will be drawn from all the correct guesses for that month, and the winner will receive a $50 Valley Nursery gift certificate and a mystery gift from Valnur’s trip. All correct guesses from each month will automatically be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing to be held in October. Contestants must be 18 or older.

Business owners that want to participate in the promotion, should call Paula Anderson at (360) 779-3806.
