| Labyrinth Hill, a Hansville lavender grower, reported continued sharp growth in sales of fresh lavender and dried lavender buds during its third season, primarily via the Internet. CEO Susan L. Harrington said the 2006 fiscal year sales via LabyrinthHill.com included shipments to 44 states and British Columbia, almost doubling the previous year. Shipments of fresh lavender bundles from this season’s new crop tripled. Dried buds processed and shipped in August and September have each exceeded the previous year’s orders.
Harrington launched an on-line course based on growing lavender for fun and profit. The six week program, Lavender: From Soil to Sachet is a basic survey course on planning and selecting appropriate varieties for small lavender farms. Initial enrollments came from as far away as Pennsylvania.
