Christmas in the Country set
for December 1-3
On December 1, 2 and 3 private Bainbridge Island historic homes, farms, cottage industries, stables, and art studios open their doors to visitors during the 13th annual Christmas in the Country history and arts tour. Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. this progressive party stops at eight different places on the Island, but includes ten venues. Once inside experience the charming ambiance of historic homes with tales to tell originating from the early 1900s or the rustic elegance of a lodge home or the appealing rough décor of a barn. Enter free drawings for select artwork or purchase tickets for raffled items.

The free driving tour follows a map of the Island available at the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce at the corner of Winslow Way and Highway 305 or as a download at www.christmasinthecountry.info. Also find details of the tour and facts about each venue on the website. There will be free pony rides for children at Countryman Stables on Sat. and Sun. from 12 – 2 p.m. and photos with Santa at Hazel Creek Farm, also on Sat. and Sun.

The venues on the tour include: The Stephens House (1910), Countryman Stables, Lynwood Center (1930s) with the Beverly Hooks Gallery and the Treehouse Café, then the Sweetlife Farm, The Little Yellow Farmhouse (1916), Duncan House, Hazel Creek Farm (1921), and Port Madison Design & The Christmas House both built in (1910) and adjacent to one another Port Madison.

The farm featured on the poster is the old Quitslund Farm on the north end of the Island. The watercolor was painted by Islander, Bill Kooreman.
