KEDC facilitates Bryman College’s expansion
to downtown Bremerton
Just because the Kitsap Economic Development Council (KEDC) is working with an interim director, that’s no reason for the local business community to think it isn’t still running at full speed in a “business as usual” mode.

The KEDC is responsible for facilitating Bryman College’s decision to move to downtown Bremerton. The school will occupy the entire second floor of the new, recently dedicated Kitsap Credit Union headquarters building.

The announcement not only demonstrates how the organization works to assist potential firms wanting to relocate or expand to Kitsap County, but exactly how time-consuming the economic development process can be. The KEDC was initially contacted by Corinthian College’s site consultant in Sept. 2003 regarding a relocation and expansion site for its Kitsap branch. The agency has worked with the college consistently over the past three years to help it accomplish its goal. (Corinthian is the parent company for Bryman College).

Sue Baugh, the project’s site consultant praised the KEDC, saying in a letter to the organization, “Now that Corinthian College has found a new home and the lease is signed, I just want to take a moment to thank you for your help and encouragement throughout the process particularly in the crucial beginning stages when we were all unfamiliar with Kitsap County. Your help identifying property options and owners was key to our getting a good start on this project. Thanks, again, for your help throughout the process.”
