| For 33 years, POSDATA has somewhat silently grown its Gig Harbor operation to become a leader in data collection, point of sale systems, electronic payment processing and software development.
Bill McCubbins, president and CEO, said recently the company headquarters will remain in Gig Harbor, but by July 1, the service and logistics division will be moved to Louisville, Ky. The local office will remain home to some 27 corporate staff members. About 13 technicians and material handlers currently working out of the Gig Harbor warehouse have been offered positions in Louisville.
While McCubbins said he’s not particularly happy about the current business taxation here in Washington, the decision to move part of the company to Louisville was based solely on its proximity to the UPS distribution center. The company’s headquarters will remain in the current location on Soundview Drive and should have little impact on the tax base in Gig Harbor, company executives said. |
