Hamilton Honored as “Rotarian of the Year”
The Rotary Club of Silverdale has selected Jack Hamilton as its “Rotarian of the Year.” The annual award recognizes the Rotarian who has contributed significantly to the community and the club for the year and who has, through their actions, personified the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”

Hamilton, who is also challenging incumbent District 3 County Commissioner Patty Lent in the upcoming Republican primary election, was recognized for his service to the community through numerous “hands on” service projects including serving as club representative for the annual Rotary Auction and Garage Sale, RAGS.

His service to the club, through his leadership in fund raising for the Rotary International Foundation, resulted in the club achieving an individual donation level more than twice the established goal. Hamilton was also recognized for his active participation in the annual Great Kitsap Duck Race operations and his significant accomplishment of sales of over 1200 duck adoptions for the 2005 race. During the presentation it was noted that whenever there was a need to support a community or club event, Hamilton was there.

Hamilton is a resident of Silverdale, and active in the community as a member of the Central Kitsap Community Council and Silverdale Sub-area Planning Citizens Advisory Committee. He is a member of Navy league and American Legion and currently serves as President of the Board of Directors, of the United Way of Kitsap County.

This was the second service award for Hamilton in the month of June. He was recognized and honored for his service in the model railroad community. Hamilton was awarded the annual “Golden Grab Iron” by the 750 members of the local division of the National Model Railroad Association.
