The Port Orchard McDonalds is just one of the local fast food outlets undergoing an Extreme Makeover. |
By early next fall, most of Kitsap Countys McDonalds will have a complete new look, following a $5 million renovation project by owner Brian Beaulaurier.
Beaulaurier, who owns a total of 16 establishments (four of them Belfair, Port Townsend, Port Angeles, Sequim and the rest in Kitsap), will remodel 13 of them. In Kitsap, the Kitsap Mall and the two Navy base locations will not be renovated, as well as the Wheaton Way restaurant in Bremerton. As part of the makeover, Belaurier hopes to close the Wheaton Way restaurant sometime this year due to its inconvenient access, and find a better spot in East Bremerton.
The facelift will focus both on the exteriors and interiors. All the locations except the ones in Poulsbo and Kitsap Way will have a new lobby, including new tile, paneling, seating, and wallpaper.
I felt like I needed to update them, and give the exteriors a more contemporary look, he said.
The new look will include new colors tan, forest green and rust instead of red and white. Even the Golden Arches will be more modern looking, he added.
Two of the buildings, in Port Orchard and Silverdale, will be finished by the first week of March and include new 1,200-square-foot Playlands with a 15-foot toy, an area for 1- to 2-year-olds, a basketball shoot and air hockey table. The old play areas did not have heating or air-conditioning.
Both those communities have a lot of kids and a lot of families are using the Playland. Im giving them a better place, he said. The Sedgwick location is next on the list, and will include a double drive-through.
Beaulaurier said Kitsap County residents are definitely McDonalds lovers. He says while the projects will certainly increase customer base and sales, his motivation behind the investment was to give his customers a better environment.
In this market, we will have the most updated, most complete stores in the Northwest, he said. The idea is to update all the stores so people recognize the stores in Kitsap County are special.. |
