Port Orchard Chamber comes out
in favor of building NASCAR track
The Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce announced that after an exhaustive membership survey, it has come out to support the concept to invest in a state-of-the-art racetrack facility in Kitsap County to host NASCAR races.

“We acknowledge that a project of such proportions presents obvious fiscal, environmental and social concerns, but we believe the potential benefits to our community by way of investment in infrastructure and job creation outweigh any potential risks,” stated Chamber President Billie Gurnsey.

The decision was based on question and answer meetings with State, County, City and Community leaders/officials representative of those communities that host NASCAR races. “Their enthusiasm and testimony of expansive economic growth, is a major reason for our decision,” Gurnsey added. The Chamber's endorsement is also based on representations made in the Economic and Fiscal Benefits Analysis of a Motor Speedway in Kitsap County prepared by Berk and Associates dated Oct.10.
