Janet Mayberry, area director for the American Red Cross, was recently presented a donation of $26,532.82 by Kitsap Bank President/CEO James Carmichael and Senior Vice President/Marketing Director Shannon Childs.

In the days following Hurricane Katrina's destructive landfall, Kitsap Bank announced their intention to assist the American Red Cross' disaster relief effort. “Our employees and customers rallied to the cause,” said Carmichael. “They graciously opened their pocketbooks in a demonstration of humanity, with empathy for those affected by this terrible disaster.”

The bank encouraged customers and employees alike to consider this worthy cause. The result was overwhelming, as customers donated generously. In addition, the banks' 250 employees gave unselfishly, and with matching funds from Kitsap Bank's corporate giving program, the result was impressive. There is still time, however, for benevolence. Those wishing to make a donation to the disaster relief fund are encouraged to contact their local chapter of the American Red Cross.
