| The Red Cross continues to encourage hurricane evacuees who have arrived in Washington State to contact it for assistance.
In King and Kitsap Counties we have opened 128 client cases (over 200 people) to assist people who self-evacuated from the Gulf Coast, said Red Cross CEO Larry Petry. We have established a Service Center at our chapter and will provide assistance based on people's specific needs and resources. He added that other Red Cross chapters throughout the state are also seeing people from the hurricane who came here on their own.
Hurricane survivors who have made their way to Washington State should contact the local Red Cross where they are now and make an appointment to learn about potential services.
- Kitsap County (360) 377-3761
- Pierce County (253) 474-0400
- King County (206) 323-2345
- Snohomish County (425) 252-4103
Those in need who cannot connect with a local chapter may call a new Red Cross Assistance Call Center at (800) 975-7585. To apply for aid, survivors calling in must be ready to provide their name, pre-storm address, ZIP code and home telephone to call center agents. Callers must be prepared to write down a client identification number which they will take to a financial institution in their new community to receive the support. |
