| The National Youth Involvement Board (NYIB) has elected Kitsap Credit Union (KCU) Marketing Specialist, Cathy Brorson, as its new chairperson. The NYIB is a network of credit union professionals that promotes the value of financial literacy, youth services and leadership development.
Brorson brings over five years of credit union youth related experience to this position. She has served as Washington's NYIB State Voting Delegate for the last four years and the organization's media manager, Northwest regional coordinator and vice-chair. She is a past recipient of the NYIB Robert L. Curry Scholarship for her outstanding work with youth. Brorson also serves as the chairperson for the Credit Union Youth Development Council of Washington (CUYDC) through the Washington Credit Union League.
Brorson currently teaches financial education at several local elementary schools and eleven secondary schools reaching both junior and senior high students. She also oversees her Credit Union's Kid's Club and Varsity Checking programs and works with Bremerton High School students through a student-run, campus branch, coordinating and teaching a variety of classes on youth financial education and literacy. Additionally, she facilitates community classes and branch tours for various local groups including the scouts, church youth groups and home school groups. |
