Kitsap Bank recently awarded five scholarships to local high school graduates attending college this fall. The scholarship recipients include Jacob Huelsnitz, Olympic High School graduate and son of Jennifer Pansa-Huelsnitz and Warren Huelsnitz; Steven Newton, Central Kitsap High School graduate and son of Greg and Carole Newton; Benjamin Pentz, Central Kitsap High School graduate and son of Geoff and Betsy Pentz; Jeb Bradwell, North Mason High School graduate and son of Jill and Jim Bradwell Jr.; and Lauren Hike, Olympic High School graduate and daughter of Lynn Griffin-Hike and Ross Hike.
Students were recently presented their scholarships at a reception, where they shared their plans for the future. Enrolled at Olympic College, Jacob Huelsnitz, who was also awarded a Safeway Foods scholarship, has aspirations of becoming a Navy Seal. Lauren Hike, also enrolled at Olympic College, will be pursuing a career in Cosmetology. As a Running Start student at Olympic College, Steven Newton began his college career early. He will be attending the University of Washington this fall to pursue a degree in Atmospheric Science. Benjamin Pentz, an accomplished Track athlete in high school, is enrolled to attend Olympic College as a student of Computer Science. Jeb Bradwell was inspired by a quadriplegic friend to pursue a career in computer software development for neuro-gaming. He has been awarded $35,000 in scholarships and will be attending Washington State University. |
