Kitsap Bank awards scholarships

Kitsap Bank recently awarded five scholarships to local high school graduates attending college this fall. The scholarship recipients include Jacob Huelsnitz, Olympic High School graduate and son of Jennifer Pansa-Huelsnitz and Warren Huelsnitz; Steven Newton, Central Kitsap High School graduate and son of Greg and Carole Newton; Benjamin Pentz, Central Kitsap High School graduate and son of Geoff and Betsy Pentz; Jeb Bradwell, North Mason High School graduate and son of Jill and Jim Bradwell Jr.; and Lauren Hike, Olympic High School graduate and daughter of Lynn Griffin-Hike and Ross Hike.

Students were recently presented their scholarships at a reception, where they shared their plans for the future. Enrolled at Olympic College, Jacob Huelsnitz, who was also awarded a Safeway Foods scholarship, has aspirations of becoming a Navy Seal. Lauren Hike, also enrolled at Olympic College, will be pursuing a career in Cosmetology. As a Running Start student at Olympic College, Steven Newton began his college career early. He will be attending the University of Washington this fall to pursue a degree in Atmospheric Science. Benjamin Pentz, an accomplished Track athlete in high school, is enrolled to attend Olympic College as a student of Computer Science. Jeb Bradwell was inspired by a quadriplegic friend to pursue a career in computer software development for neuro-gaming. He has been awarded $35,000 in scholarships and will be attending Washington State University.
