| In 1980, the Kitsap Peninsula Housing Association responded to a need in the county for accessible transportation by forming a transportation department. The new service, which began with only 3 vehicles, was the beginning of the Bremerton-based nonprofit company that today is known as Paratransit Services.
During it's 25-year history the company has weathered several transit industry storms such as funding cuts and astronomical insurance hikes, and gone on to expand its services throughout the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast. It's also the largest non-emergent medical transportation broker in Washington State, scheduling over 1.3 million trips annually. |
