PDC fines Bainbridge Island levy committee

The Chair of the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC), Earl Tilly, recently ruled that Bainbridge Island Public School Supporters (BIPSS) violated the state’s Public Disclosure laws.

BIPSS is a political committee that routinely supports Bainbridge Island School District’s ballot measures. The committee most recently campaigned for the District’s 2005 Technology Levy.

“The Bainbridge Island Public School Supporters is an experienced committee and was aware of the reporting requirements,” Tilly commented. “The committee clearly violated the Public Disclosure law.” Tilley cited the political committee for failing to timely register its 2005 levy campaign, not depositing contributions within the time allowed by state law, and filing late contribution and expenditure reports. BIPSS was fined $400 with $200 suspended.
