John Hays, owner of Port Madison Home located on Bainbridge Island, has announced that the home furnishings store will soon have a new location in the space formerly occupied by Winslow Hardware & Mercantile on Bainbridge Island. The new location for Port Madison Home at 240 Winslow Way is expected to formally open at 10:00 a.m. on September 9. The public is invited to attend and to tour the new store that will more than double show room space for the store’s collections of high quality furnishings.

Hays commented, “We are really excited about our opportunity to even better serve our customers on Bainbridge Island and throughout the peninsula. We look forward to providing premium service that is approachable, personalized and customer focused for those shopping for home furnishings.”

Port Madison Home offers “spirited family furnishings” including upholstered pieces, case goods and extensive accessories and gift items. The company also offers in-home design consultations and design services to its customers.

Currently located at 1081 Hildebrand Lane NE on Bainbridge Island, Port Madison Home opened for business on April 29, 2004. Hays added “it is an incredible opportunity for us to move to the site of historic Winslow Hardware. We sense an obligation to fill some big shoes. We are very grateful for the wonderful support we have received during our first year in business. Our initial success and the support of the community are the catalyst for this move.”

In the company’s new location, Port Madison Home will be joined by a complementary business, which has its headquarters in Sequim and a store in Bellingham. “Over the Fence”, a garden store owned by Fran and Geri Sanders, will lease space showcasing garden pottery, tools, furniture and accessories for the garden.

Port Madison Home, while in the process of relocating, will continue to operate its showroom at the Hildebrand Lane location until the opening of the new store. The firm is actively seeking a tenant to lease its current location which is approximately 2400 square feet.
