Art Anderson Associates improves
security of Washington’s ferry fleet
Homeland Security creating bonus work for local firm
Art Anderson Associates is providing comprehensive security engineering support to Washington State Ferries (WSF), the largest passenger and auto ferry operator in the United States. The project is a result of federally mandated homeland security measures and is funded via port security grants from the Transportation Security Administration.
The Bremerton-based firm has been working closely with WSF, conducting physical site checks of terminals and vessels; creating site and vessel-specific installation plans and specifications and providing ongoing support. It has also provided support in the establishment of a new database for over 1,800 employees that interfaces with the new security system and which stores and generates employee photo identification and access control cards. The outcome is an integrated set of recommendations, plans and specifications for security system implementation at terminals, aboard vessels and at WSF’s central command center.
