Local documentaries from
IslandWood now available on DVD

IslandWood recently announced the release of a new Bainbridge Island cultural history DVD. The current release includes two short films: Port Blakely: Memories of a Mill Town, which depicts the rise and fall of the largest sawmill in the world and the lives of its Native American, Scandinavian and Japanese workers; and The Red Pines, which explores the cultural history of Japanese-American immigrants on Bainbridge Island, and their relationship to the land.

These documentaries feature well-known islanders Jerry Elfendahl and Junkoh Harui. They were produced by Bainbridge Islanders Lucy Ostrander and Don Sellers, with executive producer Katie Jennings. They are available at Bainbridge Gardens, Eagle Harbor Books, Bainbridge Island Historical Museum and the IslandWood gift shop.
