Well-known Bremerton businessman Al Dillan is retiring from State Farm Insurance after 47 years. In the insurance profession, he is one of the few who have earned the CLU, CPCU and LUTCF professional designations.
During his time with State Farm, the Washington State Insurance Commissioner appointed Dillan as a member of both state and national committees writing insurance agents license examinations, and he served many years doing so.
On the community level, Dillan, who is a musician, successful businessman, and highly respected in the community, has been extremely active in the Bremerton Symphony Association and the Shrine Club among other groups.
He has worn many hats with the Bremerton Symphony, not only as a musician, but a three time past president of the Board of Directors (1988, 1993, 2004), the first and only Chair Emeritus, Ad Hoc Committee member. He is also known as a supplier of warm hospitality, using his own home for receptions and other symphony functions. He was publicly honored by the symphony for his years of contribution at the close of last years season.
Dillan is also currently Director of Shrine Club for Nile Shrine Center, where he oversees 11 clubs in the Northwest region.
He belongs to and has worked with many other organizations as well, including the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Bremerton Elks, Bremerton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Kitsap Golf and Country Club. He is Past President of the Naval Reserve Association (13ND) and the Olympic Peninsula Association of Life Underwriters. He also served on the Executive Board of the Bremerton Navy League where he helped reactivate the Missouri Sea Cadet unit. |
