The Kitsap County Critical Areas Ordinance (CAO) is currently being revised, and input is needed. Kitsap Countys Department of Community Development (DCD) has scheduled community roundtable meetings to give citizens an opportunity to place their remarks on the record. A summary of the CAO proposals can be found at: www.kitsapgov.com/dcd/cao/cao_summary_sheet_071204.pdf
This is an important policy issue that could adversely affect not only the building industry, but all private property owners as well. All citizens are encouraged to attend to learn how the proposed new rules will impact your home or land. Meetings are set for:
- Jan. 6, Givens Community Center, Kitsap Room, 6 9 p.m.
- Jan. 12, Silverdale Community Center, Evergreen Room, 6 9 p.m.
If unable to attend either roundtable, fill out the CAO survey form at: www.kitsapgov.com/dcd/cao/community_input.htm
(Editors Note: Someone savvy in politics once said, The only way government truly changes is when the electorate, who show up to vote their preferences, makes the government change the way it conducts its business. In turn, the majority of elected officials who vote to change the way government operates are urged to vote that way by those who elected them. But the secret in making this work is that you, as a citizen, have to make your voice heard. In our view, Government is ultimately run by those who show up.). |
