Buffalo getting ready to head home to Montana

An almost life size buffalo will soon be crated up and shipped back to the Charles Russell Museum in Great Falls, Mont. – where it will join 19 other decoratively painted buffalo for the 2005 Lewis and Clark celebrations.

Amy Burnett was the only west coast artist selected to participate in this event, based on the proposal “Sacajawea, Montana to the Pacific” which she submitted. The design, Sacajawea, features salmon and horses painted on both sides of the buffalo that appear to be both flying and swimming. One side represents summer and the other winter.

The last viewing is scheduled for Oct. 10 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Burnett’s 1511 Park Avenue studio in Bremerton.
