Two projects completed by local creative marketing firm, North Woods Graphics for Peninsula Light Company (PLC) recently took top honors at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in Columbus, Ohio.
In the category of Best Computer Graphics and Illustration, North Woods Graphics and PLC won the Excellence in Communication award (first place) in developing a new logo and corporate identity package for the local 26,000 member electrical cooperative, based in Gig Harbor.
The logo work, designed by North Woods creative director/designer Anne Miller and illustrator Karen Pew brings a fresh, consistent look to all Peninsula Lights marketing materials, building and vehicle signage, uniforms and website.
In the category of Best Multimedia Presentation, North Woods Graphics and PLC also won an Excellence in Communication award for the companys corporate video/DVD program. Eyewitness testimony, historic photos and rare, original film clips reveal the picture of the daily struggle for peninsula residents before the introduction of electricity by PLC in 1925. The video also provides an interesting inside glimpse of todays technologically advanced PLC as it battles weather and fast-growing vegetation to keep the lights on for its members.
