Harrison Hospital board announces new officers

At its recent annual meeting, the Harrison Hospital board of directors held its election of officers. Four board members were also re-elected.

A member of the hospital’s board since 1994, Ron Muhleman was re-elected chair for a one-year term. A Bremerton native — born at Harrison — Muhleman has spent 30 years at The Sun and serves as the newspaper’s director of business development.

Carl Cramer, president of Farrell’s Home Health and a member of the board since 1995, was re-elected vice chair. Cramer is also serving as chair of the CEO search committee; Harrison President and CEO Dave Gitch will retire at the end of the year.

Elected to a one-year term as secretary was James Smalley, a financial advisor with Salomon Smith Barney. Chair of the board’s governance committee, Smalley has been a board member since 1998.

Four board members were re-elected for additional three-year terms: Kate Brostoff, MD, a gerontolgist; Joan Soriano, a member of the board for over 30 years; Cramer; and Smalley.

Also serving on the board is Ken Cogen, MD, Harrison’s chief of staff, who was recently elected to a two-year term by the hospital’s medical staff. Dr. Cogen succeeds Dr. James Rohlfing in this position.
