Kingston businessperson wins national award

The Northwestern Mutual Foundation recently announced that Thomas Moreland has been named an “Outstanding Volunteer” in Northwestern Mutual’s national Community Service Award (CSA) program. Now in its 10th year, the annual program is open to the more than 7,900 financial representatives of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.

Moreland was selected for his outstanding contribution to Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County, an organization that works with people of all faiths to build simple housing, in partnership with low-income people.

Moreland received the community service award during Northwestern Mutual Financial Network’s annual meeting on July 27, at the company’s headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisc.

A $10,000 grant will go towards funding an upcoming Habitat for Humanity building project on Arsenal Way, which will house up to 18 families in the next two years.
