On April 26th, the Kitsap County Commissioners presented North Mason Fiber, a Mason County business that specializes in organic waste management, an Outstanding Achievement in Organic Waste Management award. The honor was part of the annual Kitsap County Earth Day awards given to outstanding businesses, organizations and individuals that are working to improve the environment.

North Mason Fiber is an illustration of adaptability and resourcefulness in shifting from log processing and chip production to composting and organic waste management and is also an example of economic business development across county lines in support of local jobs in rural areas.
