BIAW endorses Rossi and McKenna

The Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW), and the BIAW Political Action Committee, the Washington Affordable Housing Council (WAHC), have endorsed Republican candidate for Governor Dino Rossi and Attorney General candidate Rob McKenna.

“BIAW is committed to supporting the candidates that support the building industry and the continued economic growth of this state,” said BIAW President Gary Cronce. “Both Rossi and McKenna have been identified as advocates for affordable housing and small business,” he said.

As chair of the Senate Ways & Means Committee, Rossi helped to balance one of the largest budget deficits in state history without a tax increase. “The future of Washington State hinges on the election of a pro-small business governor,” said Cronce. “Gary Locke has been in office for eight years and he hasn’t made Washington more business friendly – and would be governor Christine Gregoire won’t do anything either,” he said. “As Attorney General Gregoire has demonstrated time and again her allegiance to big government – our only hope is to elect a pro-small business governor like Dino Rossi.”

Currently a member of the King County Council, McKenna is seeking to fill the vacancy created by Gregoire’s decision to run for governor. “Christine Gregoire has been the most unethical and incompetent Attorney General in the history of this state,” said Cronce. “McKenna has the experience necessary to serve as a competent and ethical Attorney General, a balance that has been lacking in that office since Gregoire’s election in 1992.

“BIAW’s endorsement of Rossi and McKenna will, hopefully, kill two birds with one stone,” said Cronce. “Making sure Gregoire isn’t the state’s next governor and electing an Attorney General who is worthy of the job.”.
