Classique Care Wash & Detail
expanding services
By Linda Thomson

Classique Care Wash & Auto Detail in Silverdale continues to offer superb service to its many customers. With the current and ongoing expansion, those customers can now have an even more enjoyable experience while they wait for their vehicle to come out sparkling clean.

A new coffee house on the property will be up and running very soon. It’ll be a great place to hang out, sipping a favorite beverage, perhaps indulging in a hard-scoop ice cream waffle cone or any of a number of delicious items on the menu.

Bill Campbell owns Classique. He and former owner Jody Jones have worked diligently together over the past two years to make it the “busiest detail shop in the state now,” according to Bill.

The two have teamed up to bring the best service possible to Kitsap County. They made a trip to California recently to observe the newest in car washing: good old-fashioned hand washing. They’ve combined this with state-of-the-art detailing. Classique offers deluxe hand washing packages for $9 to $30, says Jody.

Classique is a high-end detail shop, doing much more than others. Detailing costs $400 to $600, and takes two days to complete. Rather than just putting wax over whatever didn’t come off in the wash, the business takes the time to remove contaminants and acid rain, strip off tar and pitch, rub out scratches, even do paint touch-ups, all followed by a polycoat seal.

They meticulously work on all parts of the car, including door hinges and under the hood. The carpet is cleaned, and odor removal done. When they’re finished, the car will be in “mint condition,” Jody says. The detailing job may also include, by request, pin striping, decals or other finishing touches.

Bill tells of one customer getting tears in his eyes upon seeing his fully detailed vehicle transformed like new.

The business also offers new car protection packages.

Currently, the shop has 150 cars booked for work, but the wait time is worth it, they say. “Our details are more expensive than other shops,” says Bill, “but you get what you pay for, and we offer an excellent product. Our employees do phenomenal work.”

The work ethic they exhibit is no accident. Bill conducts meetings for employees so they will understand the importance of being professional, which includes having integrity and being dependable. Bill hires personable and trainable workers, and teaches them that the customer is the most important person.

With about 15 part- and fulltime employees, expected to grow to 25 or 30 in the summer, there may be little discussion in the shop, as each one is totally focused on the vehicle under their care. “There is a time for camaraderie,” Bill says, “but not while you’re buffing a car.”

The building, once plain cement-block, has been painted red-white-and-black, with sections of bright, cheerful yellow. Curved walls of glass bricks round out the main building’s attractive exterior. The coffee house in front is stained wood, and will also serve as the pay station.

Out back, Jody and Bill are putting in lawn and bringing in picnic tables. Classique customers are offered a relaxing, enjoyable experience while they wait for their vehicle to be renewed.
