Henden announces for Commissioner

Scott Henden has announced that he will once again run for the job of Kitsap County Commissioner from District #1. He will challenge incumbent Chris Endresen for the second time in four years.

In the 2000 election, Henden, then a novice to politics, came a lot closer to upsetting Endresen than anyone anticipated by hammering home the message that the county commissioners were responsible for the wholesale erosion of local private property rights. Backed by the newly formed Kitsap Alliance of Property Owners (KAPO), Henden worked diligently educating himself — and the voters — on land use issues, and crafted a message that resonated well with many more voters than most local political observers predicted it would.

His education includes successfully completing four years of trade school before starting Henden Electric, a full-service residential and commercial contracting company, 19 years ago. Currently Henden Electric has twelve employees and an annual payroll of more than $330,000.

Henden says that as a successful business owner, he understands the benefits a healthy business climate offers.

Henden Electric is an associate member of Home Builders Association of Kitsap County, an affiliate member of Kitsap County Association of Realtors, Kingston Chamber of Commerce. Henden himself is also a charter member of the newly-formed Kingston Rotary Club, and a member of the Puget Sound Rental Owners Association.
