The Puget Sound Business Journal has selected Mayor Cary Bozeman as one of the Newsmakers of 2003 and the Seattle Times also identified him in the editorial page as one of the Regional Leaders of 2003.

The Business Journal praised Bozeman’s accomplishments by saying, “Under Bozeman, the city has made visible progress revitalizing its downtown business district, which has struggled since major retailers pulled out in the 1970s and 1980s. Construction began on a conference center complex on the downtown waterfront that is the centerpiece of Bremerton’s revitalization strategy… A few blocks away, work is under way on a new government center, giving the downtown Bremerton skyline two construction cranes – a welcome site for revitalization advocates.”

The Seattle Times states “Mayor Cary Bozeman and Bremerton folks for getting the city’s downtown off dead center – finally. Bremerton’s turnaround sets a regional example for every city with a dormant downtown and subdued spirit.”.
