The Association of Washington Business (AWB) again threw its full support behind charter schools legislation before the state legislature in Olympia.
AWB Governmental Affairs Director Grant Nelson testified in support of charter schools legislation in front of the House Education Committee. In specific, Nelson said AWB supports the concepts in SHB 2295, a measure first read to the legislature during 2003s first special session in June.
The bill calls for the authorization of public charter schools in Washington to provide alternatives for students and parents to find high quality learning. Too many children fall through the cracks of our current public schools, Nelson said. Parents and students need choices. Its our hope that this bill will move out of committee in the next few days, he added. |
