South Kitsap Family Care Clinic adds
practitioners and expands hours

South Kitsap Family Care Clinic in Port Orchard recently added three new staffers. They are Audrey Van Voorhis, ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner), Margaret Sandler, ARNP, and David Billings, MS, Child/Adult Mental Health Counselor. Additionally, the clinic has expanded its hours to meet its patients’ varied needs and schedules.

Van Voorhis is a women’s health specialist with more than 20 years of health care industry experience as a nurse in labor and delivery, post partum care. For the past five years, she has served as a women’s health nurse practitioner in Kitsap County.

Sandler is a family nurse practitioner with industry experience in critical care, oncology, and home health care services.

Billings has more than ten years experience providing mental health care for children, teens and adults for a variety of issues including depression, anxiety and parenting concerns.

The trio joins women’s health specialist Sharon Schnare, ARNP, and family nurse practitioner Paul Baker, ARNP, and owner of the clinic.

“We’re very excited to have Audrey and Margaret join our team of medical providers,” said Baker. “Many people in this area don’t have a primary care provider or don’t have access to quality health care because of a lack of health care insurance. Through our collective experience and specialties, we’re able to fill the need for preventative healthcare services for babies, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly at an affordable cost for most families. The addition of mental health counseling helps us offer a well-rounded suite of services for our patients.”

The clinic is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with evenings available by appointment Mondays and Wednesdays.

The clinic offers routine primary health care services such as immunizations; women’s health; infant, child and adolescent care; sports and annual physicals; care for minor injuries and illnesses; and maintenance for chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and arthritis. Referrals to specialists, lab, and x-ray services in the area are provided as needed.

In August of 2003, the clinic also became the Health and Wellness provider for the Fire District 7 and is developing a fitness and wellness program for the entire district as well as performing the Firefighters In Training (FIT) physicals.

South Kitsap Family Care Clinic opened in May 1998 and accepts most major health insurance carriers and Medicare Plan B Assignment. Additionally, for those patients without insurance coverage, the clinic charges a flat $35 per office visit fee at the time of the appointment. Any special needs beyond the exam carry additional fees.

The clinic is located at 1826 Fircrest Drive SE next to the main District 7 Fire Station on Fircrest Drive.
