Co-owners MaryBeth and Derrick Lovelace of Sylvan Learning Center in Silverdale have announced that they will open a second Sylvan Learning Center in Port Orchard on Oct. 8.

The new facility will be located in the South Park Village shopping center at the top of Mile Hill. The address is 1762 Village Lane S.E.

The Lovelaces both bring educational backgrounds to the business. MaryBeth has been with Sylvan for the past 10 years and was an English teacher in Ohio prior to that. Derrick taught high school math for 15 years on both Bainbridge and Mercer Islands before becoming involved with Sylvan.

“This community is a good location for Sylvan,” stated MaryBeth. “We see Port Orchard growing and there is a need here by both students and parents for what we do. We have a great location with good proximity to several major schools and see this as a great partnership to meet the needs of students. We’re very excited.”
