Gig Harbor to host three events

On Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. there will be an opportunity to live like a pioneer and row to Tacoma and back at the annual Gig Harbor Heritage Row fundraiser for the Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society. Also, on the 27th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Gig Harbor Mid-Day Rotary Club has organized the first people and puppy event, “Harbor Hounds Walk the Town,” to support the Purdy Prison Pet Partnership Program. Participants can enjoy and benefit from the following:

  • A walk along the family friendly waterfront in Historic Downtown Gig Harbor
  • Vendor booths set-up at Borgen’s Corner and Skansie Brothers Park
  • Various activities will include: Doggie Demos; Ask the Expert; pet photography; raffles, and massages.

   The Prison Pet Program rescues homeless dogs to train for persons with disabilities, and in addition, offers vocational education for woman inmates through the boarding and grooming facilities they operate. The annual Gig Harbor Quilt Festival will be held September 30 to October 5 and will benefit local cancer charities. Following are some of the planned events:
