PSRC recognizes Bremerton’s revitalization

The Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) has recognized Bremerton as one of six success stories as part of its Vision 2020 update. Bremerton is among the 21 growth centers and eight manufacturing and industrial centers in the PSRC’s four-county region.

Earlier this summer, researchers from the PRSC met with community leaders in Bremerton and reviewed data and documentation on the changes in the city over the past decade. Data trends such as population, housing, employment and other key indicators of growth are analyzed on a regular basis.

Key points in this summer’s success stories are:

  • Specific tools or regulations do not make successful centers (although they do matter). Rather, dedicated, committed, and creative leaders and citizens make successful centers.
  • Leaders were credited with having the skills to implement the community’s plan by being smart and inclusive.
